Reading Room Release

Dear reader,

We hope that wherever this finds you, you’re safe and well.

We write with news: we are excited to announce the release our new book, Reading Room.

Reading Room is over three years in the making. It began with our reading residency series in the fall of 2016: 40 artists and writers were given quiet hours in the dispersed reading room on the Bowery. We then asked our resident readers to document and expand on their reading time. The result is a polyphonic meditation on the act of reading.

We were due to launch the book at the Los Angeles Art Book Fair in early April, but of course the event was cancelled, and our books were waylaid with the printer overseas. Indeed, as you read this, a pallet of 300 copies sails across the Atlantic. We anticipate books in hand by mid-June. Until then, we’ve decided to make Reading Room available both for pre-order and as a full PDF — we are keen to get it to you, dear reader, there in your room.

The physical book can be pre-ordered for $28 (shipping included). You will receive a PDF upon ordering.

Reading Room PDFs can be purchased for a sliding scale price of $8-16. All proceeds from the PDF edition will benefit a mutual aid fund for contributors to the book. Many of our collaborators have seen their livelihoods affected by the pandemic. We speak for all dispersed holders when we say we appreciate your support.

To place a pre-order or purchase a PDF, please email dispersedholdings@gmail.com.

From our reading room to yours,

David & Sal
